Ralph served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, California State University Chancellor's Office. Founded the California State University Institute for coordinating the R&D assets of the CSU academic institutions to meet industry needs on entrepreneurial projects. Ralph also co-founded the United States Distance Learning Association and was named Chairman Emeritus 2015. He was inducted into the 2008 STEM Hall of Fame by the REC Foundation for SMI's role in expanding VEX robotic curriculum and competitions.
